In this video Lounn Tung relates her experiences with Haritaki. Lounn is a 3 year veteran of taking Haritaki and has had many powerful experiences with this great herbal remedy.

Dr Bombay, a US nutritionist has the following advise about how to use Haritaki fruit.
He recommends the dried fruit over powder or capsule because it provides more uses.
He recommends this method of using the dried fruit. Take 7 dried fruits. Put them in water over night this will make a juice drink and reconstitute the dried fruit.
Make Juice drink, add more water and drink juice throughout the day. Whenever you feel like reaching for the anything else, instead take the juice. all the multivitamins are in the fruit. Use a spray bottle and take the juice from Haritaki. You can use the spray bottle to spray your face including your eyes. This refreshes the eyes and makes a tremendous difference in your sight.
Wound cleaning :You can also use the Haritaki to clean wounds. Use the spray to clean these wounds.
Burns. Use on burns to clean the burn and reduce the pain and swelling.
Douche to help with infections in that part of the body.
Enema Haritaki fruit can be used as an enema, very effectively. Use the juice from the fruit. Put this into your enema pot and use.
Eating the fruit once it is reconstituted from dried. The Haritaki fruit can be eaten once it is reconstituted with water. We recommend that you eat the fruit meat from around the seed. We recommend that you eat one fruit per day as the maximum.
Haritaki fruit is very hard to find in the USA or Canada. You can find the dried fruit online on Amazon and occasionally you can find them at Indian grocery stores. Occasionally you can find where to buy haritaki fruit by phoning Indian groceries in your local area. Many areas in the USA and Canada have a Little India area. In Vancouver BC this area is Main and 41st street or in the Delta area. In Los Angeles the area to buy haritak fruit is the Artesia area.
I recommend that if you cannot find haritaki fruit locally then order the powder or capsules from my online store.
Using haritaki fruit vs powder has only one advantage that I can find. That is to use the dried fruit to make a tea which can be used for eye washes and to wash other parts of the body.

He was born in Spain and served as doctor to the royal court of Spain. His first published work was on medicine called a “Summary of Medicine” As you can see from this, Haritaki was well established as a useful herb in the courts of Europe during this time period. In this case Haritaki was used as a cure for syphilis.

This is the cover of the book of Medicine below:

The Harvard University has spent time studying Buddhist monks and their abilities to withstand cold. They also studied the brain activities of the monks and found that their brains functioned in quite different ways than most people.
There was much less brain activity in certain parts of the brain that the Harvard University studied. Those parts associated with worry, stress, the flight or fight syndrome etc.
Other researchers have studied the brain of enlightened master Paramahamsa Nithyananda. Dr Juan Acosta-Urquidi found that Nithyananda had the ability to manipulate his brain activity at will. This remarkable finding came about by accident. The researcher reported to me that he asked Nithyananda at the end of the brain scans, “What else can you do?” Nithayanda replied “What would you like me to do?”
Nithyananda then asked the doctor to touch different parts of Nithyananda’s head. As the researcher did so, his QEEG machine would show huge amounts of activity in that part of the brain. Nithyananda was able to create activity in different parts of his brain at will. This is the first time this has been recorded in history. Nithyananda goes on to confirm that Haritaki is one of the keys to brain activation. He says that Haritaki clears out the intestinal tract and increases the oxygen flow to the brain by 300%. This in turn has the effect of clarifying the third eye. The third eye is attributed with many abilities. Included in the list of abilities is the ability to activate the brain at will.
As Haritaki clears out the internal organs and awakens the brain so it also connects with the heart in ways that open the heart to healing and oneness with other plants, animals and humans. In India the children at the Nithyananda gurukul each have a rose that they sit with daily. By sitting with the rose and falling into oneness with the rose they find that roses stop producing thorns. The roses feel secure. These children all take Haritaki as part of their daily regime.

Harvard Research Team Reveals The Shocking ‘Superhuman’ Abilities Of The Tibetan Monks
This video here goes into the Harvard brain research in more depth.

Yoga has some popular benefits to the West,
The Indian herb, Haritaki has huge benefits for yoga and is deeply embedded into the yoga tradition throughout India, Nepal and Tibet.
For thousands of years yogis have been taking Haritaki daily to help their yogic path. It is so well known in many circles as essential to the yogic path. In delving into the history of yoga, and yogic practices we find that Haritaki is considered the “King of Herbs”
The yogi has a number of practices for reaching the ultimate realization, also referred to as moksha, Samadhi, or Nirvana. The daily practices can include the following:
When we look closely at the cleansing practices, we see that they are all designed to create a clear and clean intestinal flow; from the mouth, through the stomach and into the intestines. Why this emphasis on the internal cleanliness? It turns out that Yogis knew about the effects of clogged and unhealthy internal systems long before modern medicine discovered it.
Only now are researchers discovering what some are calling the “Second brain.” The importance of these internal organs is becoming more apparent. The second brain when functioning well allows the flow of nutrients, and oxygen flow, through the whole body.
In the Hatha yoga practice we twist and turn all the organs in the lower abdomen, releasing stagnant energy and creating a flow of strength and flexibility into that region. In fact, there is well documented evidence of yoga helping irritable bowel syndrome, (IBS).
Here are some quotes about that.
There are specific yoga poses and also full sequences of postures for relieving and preventing all IBS symptoms, as well as other digestive problems. Try any of the choices below to help stablize your GI tract and start feeling better immediately. http://www.helpforibs.com/yoga/poses.asp
Whether the culprit is a big meal, rich food, or something more serious like IBD, bloating and indigestion never feel good. “I was diagnosed with ulcerative colitis in my early 20’s,” says Govind Das, Kirtan musician and owner of Bhakti Yoga Shala in Santa Monica. “After months of crippling sickness and spending eight days in the hospital receiving blood transfusions, I was told I would be on medication to control my Inflammatory Bowel Disease for the rest of my life. But when I took a friend’s suggestion and attended my first yoga class, I knew I had found my path. ThroughBhakti Yoga, asana, and Ayurveda, I’ve been completely medication-free for 11+ years.”
With a combination of deep breathing, stretches that target abdominal organs, and twists that massage and wring out stuck intestinal toxins, this sequence relieves a wide range of digestive discomfort (think: gas, bloating, constipation). And the best part? With better digestion comes more energy. http://www.yogajournal.com/slideshow/8-poses-better-digestion/
The cleanliness is obviously compromised if the internal organs are clogged and there is constipation. Digested food can remain rotting in the internal organs for days. This is where the importance of Haritaki comes in. Haritaki is a cleanser. On the skin it reduces skin ailments. In the mouth it heals sores and ulcers. In the intestinal system it keeps the whole system clear and functioning to high capacity.
In the yogic system the whole purpose of yoga is unity, liberation, moksha, enlightenment, oneness, fulfillment. Yogic monasteries in India have been taking daily Haritaki as a spiritual practice for several thousand years. It is now well recognized that it aids in the expression of super powers such as third eye reading. It aids in the development of the brain and especially the third eye awakening. The most modern expression of these yogic powers is taking place in Bangalore India, where there are over 1,000 children who use Haritaki who are demonstrating yogic powers such as third eye reading.
When taking Haritaki for yogic powers the recommended amount to be taken is ¼ to ½ a teaspoon every evening before bed. This allows the Haritaki to work through the whole digestive system, which is then cleansed with the first bowel movement in the morning.
There are a number of types of Haritaki available for consumption. We recommend organic or wildcrafted Haritaki. For yogis who appreciate the importance of cosmic blessings, chanting, puja and vedic ritual, Haritaki Plus – Yogic Super Brain Food offers an important differentiation. This Haritaki It is blessed daily to awaken higher consciousness in the users, through Yogic and Vedic rituals and chanting.
If you are a sincere yogi, looking to take your consciousness to full expression we recommend you take Haritaki Plus-Yogic Super Brain Food, daily.
Over the last months I have been investigating and researching about Haritaki. What I found out, through the study of historical Buddhism and Hinduism, has been particularly exciting to me. In this post and video I share the benefits and discoveries.
I don’t know if you know, but in India the Hindu religion has been in existence for over 10,000 years. The early tradition is called the Vedic Tradition. In this tradition, there is a medical and healing system called Ayurveda. The Ayurveda system is based on healing the mind/body/spirit, with the goal of leading to higher consciousness and enlightenment. In Ayurveda, the most important herb is Haritaki. It is known as “The King of Herbs” and is recommended as a cure-all for every illness.
Now we have to ask, why would this be a cure-all for all illnesses? It is because Haritaki cleans the whole internal energetic system, which in turns effects every part of the body, including the brain. The most noticeable effect of Haritaki is in the intestines, which begin to function at optimal levels. This area of the body is known in many natural medicine circles as the Second Brain. In fact the stomach and intestines are a very large sensing area . The blood flowing from the intestines goes to every part of the body carrying either high quality blood or low quality blood. When the system is clear, the full nutritional value of the blood is delivered to the body at maximum level.
Tibetan Buddhism recognized this benefit of Haritaki. In doing research I’ve found that, for all sorts of ailments, medicines in Tibet contained Haritaki as a basic ingredient. Haritaki’s usefulness, then and now, continues to be impressive.

In my research on Haritaki I am finding some great resources. I want to share with you the best books on Haritaki that I have found so far, and will add to this list as I discover more.
This book, written by the German author Udo Stanglmeier is a very detailed and well researched insight into the history of the use of Haritaki through the Buddhist lineage, especially the connection between the Medicine Buddha and Haritaki. His material also looks at the ancient documentation about Haritaki in India, China and South East Asia. He shows the interlinking of the myths and teachings from tradition to tradition, and identifies the underlying themes that are present through all.
Stanglmeier begins the book with the myths relating to the Amrita or Nectar of the gods that are found in Vedic literature from the Hindu tradition, and similar stories from Buddhism.
The book then goes into great depth about the Buddhist use of Haritaki and its mythological properties. He points out that in Tibet Haritaki was used in almost all medicines as one of the components. Because of the remoteness and lack of trees in Tibet the usual ways herbal medicines were made and administered was in large pill form. Haritaki is not common in Tibet and so the Haritaki powder would be transported from India into Tibet for use in the pills.
Stanglmeier explains in the book the importance Haritaki in the modern context. He points out that more scientists are discovering that there is a deeper importance to the use of many of the traditional herbs. He explains that the ancient seers noticed many more benefits than the modern scientific approach reveals.

Amongst the Best books on Haritaki, this ancient text, which it is believed was created 800 years before Christ, is one of the core Ayurveda texts. It has 12 chapters that deal with the preparation of medicines for healing.
He says about Haritaki “There are two kinds of medicine, one which strengthens and one which combats disease. Amondt the types that strenthen, Haritaki takes pre-eminence.
Haritaki is described as being the best remedy for the following:
This book has immense wisdom, not just about Haritaki, but about the nature of healing and the causes of disease. For a book that was first created so long ago it is remarkable.

Haritaki is the name for a tree and also a fruit that comes from this large deciduous tree that grows in India, Nepal and throughout south east Asia. When the fruit of the tree is dried and ground it becomes Haritaki powder.
Ayurveda is the study of health from the Vedic Indian perspective. This Indian science envisions the body, mind, spirit, system as a whole. Ayurveda and Yoga combine to create overall health, high consciousness and longevity.
Even though for centuries Haritaki was renowned as the “King of Herbs” in this system, and the only herb in the Ayurvedic health directory of thousands of herbs to “Increase Spiritual Awareness” its use for that purpose has fallen into disuse until the last few years.
The revival of Haritaki for its true and more profound benefits has been spurred by the incredible results that are emerging from India from its use. Thousands of adults and young people who consume Haritaki daily are displaying remarkable third eye awakening abilities and demonstrating these powers through reading while blindfolded.
Enlightened master Paramahamsa Nithyananda, the Head of the oldest Hindu organisation in the world is leading these results by blessing all those who wish to experience third eye awakening. He has recommended the daily consumption of Haritaki to millions of people and instituted its consumption at his Ashrams and schools in India, and around the world.
On this site we share information about these developments, and provide detailed history, medical research and scientific information as well as the most esoteric information available as we come across it. Please return regularly.
Haritaki Plus contains all the ingredients of regular Haritaki and also the mystical and spiritual power of blessings. Haritaki Plus -Yogic Super Brain Food is included in Vedic rituals of blessing every day. These blessings instill healing energy into all aspects of the Haritaki Plus -Yogic Super Brain Food. As Haritaki is known as a super food in Ayurveda, so we are discovering the extent to which this food affects the brain.
The best experiment to see the effects of Haritaki Plus on the brain appears to be a simple intelligence test.
There is some limited data on the IQ of children taking Haritaki in India while studying at the Nithyananda Gurukul. The results from this small sample size of about 30 children indicates that they are studying on average 3-5 grades beyond their age.
Other benefits of the connection between Haritaki Plus and third eye awakening that been observed are:
